Overview

## The service, without the fluff.

### What it is

Regular or ad-hoc door supervision for licensed premises: entry control and ID checking, searching, capacity counting, floor and toilet patrols, glass and drug-harm monitoring, vulnerability safeguarding, ejections, end-of-night dispersal and a written incident log every trading night.

### Who it's for

Nightclubs, late bars, pubs, sports bars, student venues, cocktail bars and multi-room venues across Bristol, Bath, Chippenham, Swindon, Cardiff, Newport and the wider South West and South Wales, from single-door sites to venue groups.

### When you need it

Weekly contracted door teams, weekend-only cover, seasonal peaks such as freshers, Christmas and bank holidays, one-off promoter nights, and emergency cover when your existing provider fails to turn up.

### Why professional matters

Your premises licence is the most valuable asset in the building and the easiest one to lose. Police and licensing authorities judge a venue on how its door is run, and one badly handled ejection or unlogged incident can cost a review.

What happens if you leave it

## The cost of the wrong provider, or none at all.

Risk

### Licence review

Underage service, capacity breaches or repeat violence traced back to poor door control are the most common triggers for a review, conditions or revocation.

Risk

### Violence escalating inside

Late intervention turns a verbal argument into an assault, and an assault into a police call-out, an injured customer and a claim against the venue.

Risk

### Vulnerable customers falling through

Spiking, lone intoxicated customers and predatory behaviour need staff trained to intervene early. Missing it is a safeguarding failure with a very long tail.

Risk

### Staff assaults and turnover

Bar teams who feel unprotected leave. Recruiting and retraining bar staff repeatedly costs more than a professional door.

Risk

### No defensible records

Without incident logs, refusal registers and ejection records, the venue has nothing to show when a complaint or claim arrives months later.

Risk

### Neighbour and dispersal complaints

Crowds lingering on the pavement at 3am generate residential complaints that accumulate quietly until they land on a licensing agenda.

Our process

## A clear system, from first call to sign-off.

1. Step 01

    ### Venue assessment

We visit on a trading night, review your layout, capacity, licence conditions, incident history and current door arrangements.

2. Step 02

    ### Written door plan

Costed proposal covering officer numbers by night, positions, search and ID policy, radio use, ejection procedure and reporting format.

3. Step 03

    ### Integration with your team

Officers meet your management and bar team, learn the venue's rules, schemes and escalation routes before their first shift.

4. Step 04

    ### Deploy & manage

Consistent named officers each week in uniform with SIA cards visible, a head doorman accountable to your duty manager every night.

5. Step 05

    ### Report & review

Nightly incident logs plus a monthly review with trends, refusal data and practical recommendations you can take to licensing.

Benefits

## What you actually get out of it.

### Licence protection

Documented, consistent, defensible door practice that stands up in front of police and licensing.

### The same faces every week

Regulars, staff and local officers get to know your team, which prevents far more trouble than it resolves.

### A safer venue for women

Officers briefed on spiking, harassment and safeguarding schemes, supporting your policies actively rather than passively.

### Bar staff who feel backed

Visible, competent support at the bar and on the floor improves staff retention as much as customer safety.

### Cleaner dispersal

Structured end-of-night management that keeps your frontage and neighbours quiet.

### Real paperwork

Incident logs, refusal registers and ejection records supplied in a format you can hand straight to a licensing officer.

The detail

## Methods, variations and how we deploy.

A single page can't replace a walk-around and a written proposal, but this is what the work looks like in practice, so you know what you're comparing.

### Door control, ID and refusals

The door is where the night is won. Our supervisors run Challenge 25 as standard, check accepted forms of ID properly, and record every refusal with time, reason and officer, because a refusal register is the single most useful document a venue can produce at review. Dress code, condition of entry and re-entry policy are applied consistently, which removes the accusation of arbitrary decisions. Where a venue operates a barred list or a Pubwatch scheme, officers are briefed on it and use it, rather than relying on memory.

### Searching, drugs and weapons policy

Search policy is written with you and applied evenly, so it is defensible rather than discriminatory. Officers are briefed on what is prohibited, how to conduct a proportionate search, how to handle a refusal, and how confiscated items are logged, stored and surrendered to police. Where a venue has a drug problem, we work with management and the local licensing officer on a documented response, which is usually the difference between a supportive authority and a hostile one.

### Capacity, fire exits and evacuation

Counting discipline matters. In and out numbers are tracked, reconciled and reported to the duty manager through the night, and officers are briefed on the venue's capacity figure and the consequences of exceeding it. Fire exits and escape routes are checked at the start of every shift and kept clear during trade. Every officer knows their role in an evacuation before their first shift, including sweep areas and the assembly point, because that is not something to work out at 1am with a fire alarm sounding.

### Vulnerability, spiking and safeguarding

Late-night venues carry real safeguarding responsibility. Officers are briefed to identify lone intoxicated customers, potential spiking, predatory behaviour and customers who need help getting home safely. Where a venue runs Ask for Angela, a safe-taxi scheme or works with a local street pastors or SOS bus team, our officers know the procedure and use it. Incidents are documented, and serious concerns are escalated to management and, where appropriate, police, rather than being resolved informally on the pavement.

### Conflict management and use of force

The best door teams eject very few people. Officers are trained in conflict management and de-escalation, and the expectation is that force is a last resort, proportionate, and always followed by a written record including witnesses and any injuries. This protects the customer, the officer and the venue in equal measure. Where CCTV exists we ask management to preserve footage of any significant incident immediately, before it overwrites.

### Dispersal and the wider night-time economy

How your venue empties shapes your relationship with neighbours, police and the council. We manage a staged dispersal, keep the frontage moving, discourage groups congregating, support taxi marshalling and communicate with neighbouring venues and street marshals where a radio scheme exists. Over a trading year this is often the single biggest factor in whether a venue's licence conversation is routine or adversarial.

FAQs

## Answers to the questions we hear most.

### Are your door supervisors SIA-licensed?

+

Yes. Every door supervisor holds a current SIA Door Supervisor licence, worn visibly on shift. We can provide licence numbers in advance for your records or for police licensing checks.

### Can we book door staff for one night only?

+

Yes. We cover one-off promoter nights, seasonal peaks and emergency cover as well as weekly contracted teams, subject to availability.

### Will we get the same officers each week?

+

That is our standard approach. Consistent named officers who know your venue, your regulars and your rules prevent far more issues than rotating unfamiliar staff.

### Do you provide incident reports?

+

Yes. You receive a written incident log for every trading night covering refusals, ejections, injuries and notable events, plus a monthly summary suitable for licensing discussions.

### How quickly can you cover a venue if our current provider drops out?

+

We hold our own pool of licensed officers rather than relying on agencies, so we can commonly cover a Bristol or Bath venue at short notice, including same-week weekend cover.

### Do you work with police and Pubwatch schemes?

+

Yes. Our supervisors engage with local licensing officers, Pubwatch, radio schemes and street marshals as a matter of course, and will attend meetings with your management where useful.

### Do you carry public liability insurance?

+

Yes. Public liability and employers' liability cover is held and certificates are available on request for your compliance file.

### How many door supervisors do we need?

+

Your licence may specify a minimum, but the practical number depends on capacity, layout, number of entrances, alcohol service and trading history. We assess on a live night and recommend in writing.
